Nutricost Organic Spirulina Powder
large amount of product for the money.
As a couple other reviewers have stated, this is an algae. If it tastes fishy or bitter to you, then that's because it doesn't have other things in it; basically, it's SUPPOSED to taste like algae!
Look at the serving size... 1 GRAM is a serving. Mixed with anything else at all, it still provides the nutrients it is supposed to without ruining whatever you are eating/drinking it in... you don't need to add multiple tablespoons of it to get the bennies folks!
Does it add something to the taste and color? YES
Does it have a strange fishy/seaweed-like taste? YES
Does it actually have all the benefits they claim? Probably YES (since there are no additives-preservatives)
I've bought this before & will do so again. As a healthy eater (not fanatic or freak) I can actually say that in time, I've noticed a difference in general health since adding this to a daily regimen. It's not a cure-all; not a wonder-supplement, or any such nonsense. It is a great source of nutrients for your body; and it needs to be reviewed as such. It still needs to be added to a regular diet, and done so with some common sense.
In the immortal words of 'Crocodile Dundee': "You can live on it, but it tastes like sh*t!"
...so please take all this into consideration before buying or writing your review. It actually IS what they say it is. It actually IS good for you. And if you mix it in proper amounts with something tasty, it really doesn't overwhelm other flavors to the point that it's nasty.
I eat it in smoothies everyday and I'm not green, not sick, not growing a third nipple, and I never gag....
