I've been taking the capsules for a week now. I took them at night and woke up with a headache in the morning, so I decided to take them in the morning. No headaches. I think my body is just adjusting. I'll update the review after a few more weeks.
For the last 10 years or so I’ve had 22/23 day cycles. Bad pms and sometimes cramps leading up to it. Then I took 1 Dong Quai daily a few days before I would normally start my cycle and magically the pre cramps disappeared and all of my PMS symptoms subsided. I started freaking out because it didn’t feel like my period was coming at all. Then it came making my cycle 28 days instead. My cramps were also less than before by about 25%. May be a good thing to try for women suffering from low progesterone or estrogen dominance.
Ever since I had my period at 14, my menstrual cramps have only been what nightmares are made of. Sadly, it has only gone downhill as I get older to where I have to be completely bedridden for a couple of days because I can barely function. It has gotten so bad where I became immune to any NSAID like ibuprofen or Midol. Eating a very healthy diet with no dairy and no meat has only helped minuscule. The only solution I've found that has worked for me now has been two servings of dong quai in conjunction to a serving of Midol every 4 or 5 hours. I also take dong quai a couple of days before my period begins in order to reduce the pain in my stomach when it comes. It's not the ultimate treatment for 100% pain free, but it works to where I can at least relax now to a much higher degree and eat throughout the day instead of throwing up everything from unspeakable cramping pain. And for that, I do not take this herb lightly. It has been life changing.
So I bought this & didn't fully research. After I got it I found some new knowledge that dong quai can possibly have some carcinogen effects. I didn't get too deep into researching & I purchased it with the idea of looking for a preventative arthritis supplement (runs in family) and to help muscle cramps. Maybe it will work for you? But there just haven't been enough studies done on it. A few studies I found said that it could possibly aid carcinogic tumor growth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Not going to chance it.
