This stuff is awful. Immediately broke out in rash. Got light headed, nearly passed out and lost my breath. Stomach cramps. Avoid!!!
I had to call Paramedics for the first time in my 60 years on Earth! The dosage says 1mg (it has a tiny measuring cup). I have occasionally supplemented with various niacin's over the decades and never had a strong reaction. I put one dose in my caffeine and sugar free 8oz coffee (after having just finished another 8oz drink, and had about a third of it when I had the only strong reaction to Niacin in my life. I had itching skin and my face, neck turned beet red and my arms, stomach, chest and part of my legs developed large red spots and my heart raced. My it scared me when my face and neck turned almost purple so the Paramedics watched my vitals for a while until they confirmed that my heart rhythm and BP were safe. I took an aspirin as advised by them and the internet to aid in clearing it from my system. I tried a second time a few days later with only about 1/8th of 1 mg. I still had a classic "strong" reaction of some splotchy red patches on my arms and chest, flushed face and neck.
Be aware, the Niacin produce some sides affects, and this product is not eligible for a return.
I take this product daily. My cholesterol is now normal. I dump this powder straight into my mouth and swallow it with water. I don't mind the taste of this one. I will continue to buy this.
Yes, the flush can be pretty dramatic. My wife and son can always tell when I've taken my niacin and it's an endless source of amusement... However, despite the discomfort, itchiness, redness, etc., for the vast majority of people, it is harmless. In fact, I actually enjoy the sensation now. It gradually becomes less severe and you just get used to it. Why take the niacin that puts you through this? Because it appears that it's actually what happens with the flush that does the work on your lipids. So I'd just man up, woman up and give the stuff a chance to work. And if you're going to be taking it regularly it makes sense to buy the powder which gives you nothing but what you want in your body. I just swish it around in a tiny bit of water in my mouth and follow with a half glass of water a couple times a day for a total of 1 gram. I'm probably the odd man out on this, but I actually like the taste. I do the same with Creatine, NMN and TMG. Absorption is just better before you dump it into the caldron of whatever's going on in your stomach.
